Our Staff

Cindy (Dental Assistant)

Cindy has over 30 years of chair side dental assisting. Her friendly, caring attitude help ease patients apprehension towards dental treatment. Cindy was born, raised and still currently resides in East Northport.

Cindy loves Long Island for its adventurous day trips, quaint towns and great restaurants. She enjoys spending her free time going to plays and museums but most of all, spending time with her family.

Erica (Hygienist)

Erica is a Registered Dental Hygienist. She graduated from Farmingdale State College nine years ago and has been a part of Dr. Matlach's team ever since! Erica loves the relationships she continually builds with her patients. She especially enjoys treating children. She has many years of experience working in a pediatric dental office as well.

Growing up on the south shore of Long Island, Erica and her husband used to picnic in Huntington and Northport Village while they were dating and decided when they got married, they'd raise their family on the north shore. They are doing just that! They have two beautiful children, a boy and a girl, who keep her super busy! Her days are filled with laughter, play dates and messy hands!

Elicia (Hygienist)

I am a  registered Dental Hygienist with over 17 years of experience in the dental field. It is my goal to help my patients feel comfortable during their dental cleaning visit. I help our patients achieve optimal dental health by educating our patients on different homecare techniques as well as dental procedures that are available through our office.

I am proud to be working for Dr. Matlach. I feel he is an excellent dentist who takes pride in his work and cares about his patients and his staff. From the first day I started working in Dr. Matlach’s office, I felt at home because of its warm and friendly atmosphere. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two older sons. We enjoy boating, and caring for our Wheaton Terrier.

Cindy (Hygienist)

My degree may be in dental hygiene but my passion for the health field runs deep.  My job goes far beyond dental hygiene. To me, my job is to listen to my patient, care deeply, serve and educate them with all my integrity. I have been practicing dental hygiene for 29 years. I worked for a prosthodontist for 16 years in Great Neck and have worked with several periodontists as well.

I have been working with Dr. Matlach and Dr. Ames for over 10 years. They have given me the opportunity to learn CPR, Teeth Whitening (Brite Smile), Orthodontics and Oral Conscious Sedation. Most importantly, they have given me the time and support I need to make a difference in our patients' lives. Whereas many offices have a 30 minute in-and-out "cleaning," our standard is a full hour which allows me to be thorough, help patients relax, (I often do such things as placing lavender at my patients' temples to help relax them), and to teach patients how to continue to improve their hygiene skills at home. I enjoy helping make a difference in their lives.

My favorite patient is the apprehensive, frightened patient. I love being able to relax them and reassure them that they are in best hands possible.

My interest and passion for the health field has only grown over the past few years.

I have an extensive and growing knowledge of the health sciences. As a hobby, I love to study all the fascinating fields, in particular, holistic health and herbology.

On the personal side, I love working with children and have been doing so since high school. I am a fitness instructor, martial arts instructor, and a personal trainer in a few local gyms. I have also been teaching martial arts for 13 years at a local Tae Kwon Do school.

God gave me one wonderful son who is an awesome athlete and is a college graduate as of May 2014.

I live in a wonderful home in Huntington which is surrounded by nature to feed my soul. I try to spend as many relaxing hours there as possible. I love to ski, run, bicycle, and hike and am currently learning to play tennis.

Stephanie (Patient Coordinator)

Stephanie brings to the office over 35 years of dental experience, starting as a dental assistant in high school, graduating from the University of  Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She practiced hygiene for over 25 years. After retiring from hygiene, she became an office manager/patient coordinator.

In her spare time, her passion is her family and her dogs. She owns three vizslas. She and her family are involved in dog showing and rescue. She is President of her local breed club, and the Northeast Regional Rescue Coordinator for the breed. She also sits on 2 non-profit boards.

Stephanie lives in Plainview with her husband Ray and her son Matthew, who is currently away at college.

Lori (Patient Coordinator)

Lori’s strong managerial skills are a result of her many years of catering experience in Manhattan’s top luxury hotels and event planning industries. Working in these areas have helped her develop her fine office, interpersonal and organizational skills. These qualities are key components to our professionally managed dental office.

Lori recently relocated to Long Island from New York City with her husband and two children. She enjoys traveling and dining out.

Bonnie (Dental Assistant)

My name is Bonnie and I am a Dental Assistant. I will be married 13 years this November, 2014. My husband is retired so we are able to enjoy our weekends and travel when we want. We enjoy all that Long Island has to offer whether it's fishing or entertaining and getting together with family and friends.

My career started 29 years ago. Where has the time gone? I have been fortunate to have worked side by side with Dr. Ames for the past 20 years. It has been a pleasure to work with someone with such integrity and has such a commitment to her patients.

Throughout the years, Dr. Ames has taught me so much about myself and continues to teach and educate me in regard to the continuous advancements in dentistry. I am certified in basic life support (CPR)- Oral Conscience Sedation, Invisalign (adult and children orthodontics), teeth whitening-all of which we provide in our office. We have taken numerous continuing education courses, allowing us to better serve our patients. Dr. Ames is always educating herself about the newest dental techniques and in turn, teaches us. Dr. Ames does what is needed to get the job

Currently, Dr. Ames and our team are learning about a new phase of dentistry called "Biomimetics" (saving tooth structure and avoiding crowns).

I am a team player and feel the key to a successful dental practice is a commitment to offer high quality dentistry in a friendly environment with a team that works well together. I have found that within this Dr. Ames's practice.

Marion (Patient Coordinator)

My name is Marion  I have been married for 35 years to a great guy and have 3 daughters. I am a certified Dental assistant but found that I enjoy the administrative part of the office much more. I have lived in many parts of the country and I taught pre-school for 7 years. Nine years ago we moved back to Long Island. I have been back in the dental world ever since. I have worked with Doctor Ames for 9 years, but my family have been her patients for 14 years.

From the moment you enter the office, we aim to cultivate a warm, professional and caring atmosphere. We all strive to make your trip to the dentist a pleasant experience.
The staff is certified in CPR and we are all encouraged to pursue many up to date continuing education courses. Christine and I have taken a 2 day computer program course in New York City so we can maximize your insurance benefits electronically. This also helps us keep accurate records of your finances so when it comes to tax time, we are able to provide up to date records for your convenience. When the need arises to visit a specialist, we have the ability to e-mail your digital x-ray directly to the doctors for review.
The office is constantly pursuing new techniques and Dr. Ames encourages us all to strengthen our skills and expand our knowledge. That's what is so great about working with Dr. Ames.

Joni (Dental Hygienist)

My name is Joni and I have had the pleasure to be part of Team Ames for 11 years. As a dental hygienist and former certified dental assistant I have been exposed to many phases of dentistry. I have certification in Orthodontics, Brite Smile in-office Tooth Whitening and CPR. My primary focus is on prevention. I love to work with people. My patience with one-on-one patient homecare instruction enables me to formulate an individualized plan to help improve or maintain our patients' gingival health. I perform deep scaling and root planing on patients with deep gingival pocketing. I also place a slow release antibiotic in deep pockets which promotes pocket healing. Most of the time these procedures (in addition to regular periodontal maintenance visits and great home care) mean no need for periodontal surgery! I feel blessed to be part of Dr Ames' state of the art practice which shares my values and encourages my continued professional growth.

On a personal note I am married and have one son. I have two cute Italian Greyhounds, Luigi and Guiseppe. I enjoy power boating and am a league bowler. I love my volunteer work at the Serving Our Savior Feeding Ministry in Babylon Village as well as being a member of my church choir.
